This & That Including What Ails

‘Tis Christmas Morn…

on December 25, 2016

In my neck of the woods, we are up and having breakfast.

In other parts of the world like NZ, it is past lunch time and turkey devoured.

It has been raining cats and dogs here. Buckets of water or we call torrential rain has been hitting us in lil red dot.

Cannot complain as each drop adds to our reservoir to be used.

Yesterday I took my sis and nephew to explore Kranji.

Kranji is where the nature reserve such as Sungei Buloh Wetlands are.

It was also where my first ever boss and his wife lived, running a business called “Bollywood Veggies”

My kindly ex boss was not in. According to his wife, he is in Taiwan, having tea with the Prime Minister😉

She is as colorful as any comedian I have sat through or watched on goggle box for stand up comedy.

I believe she will be a tough fight with the big leagues of Jay Leno or David Letterman of the Tonight show.

She wears a belt and one of the tools on her belt is a knife. A big nice hunting knife…the sort that Crocodile Dundee would use, except hers is half his size.

It was a laugh a minute as she feigned how she “wooed” toy boys.

You must be humorous to sit with her as she would tell you how she named her eatery at Bollywood Veggies’ Poison Ivy – her name is Ivy and so she said that people always asked “what’s your poison” (*slang for favorite foods and drinks)

She offered me a job to be her ‘scribe’ – she does not or have not ever opened her computer all her life and uses a 2G phone of which I told her that her Nokia phone will soon become obsolete.

I could stay in her cottage and take care of her personal errands and be her driver!

Sounded fun…living on an organic farm in the boondocks without politics except hearing how she names her veggie plots or her stray mongrels she picks up.

She called out to two of her 6 dogs; Skinny and Bulky.

Neither of the 2 were skinny nor were they bulky.

They were well fed and roamed through her restaurant which had cement floor dribbled with heaps of pandan leaves and lemon grass (*gives great natural aromatic smells as well as it keeps cockroaches and other pests at bay)

My nephew complained it was too hot and humid here and she asked him if he wore underwear?

When he said yes, she said that was all he needed to wear and that “we don’t live in the jungle as we have airconditioners!”

Picture of the Mighty Warrior with my nephew below.

My nephew ought to take up her offer of interning with her as she is a savvy business woman and so is my ex boss who sits on several boards.

First time in my life seeing a castor oil plant!

Below is an oyster plant that local remedy says we boil with rock sugar and drink to remove “heaty” coughs or sore throats.

Below is a sign post of how Ivy names her plots of veggies.

Sugar canes…

Ba long long tree whose fruits I used to enjoy when preserved as a sourish fruit with local Marigolds growing at the foot of the tree.

Different species of banana plants. Pisang Mas, Pisang Rajah and unfortunately I forgot to take the Red Banana plant!

It was fun exploring Bollywood Veggies and catching up with my ex boss’ wife!
