  4. It’s true! My family are going through my dad’s letters and photos from his travels around the world in the 60s, and it’s fascinating to see quite HOW much life has changed since the 60s. He describes how even making a phone call home from America to the UK took an insane amount of pre-planning, booking in advance, and organisation – all with a three-minute limit. And yet to my dad, it was utterly amazing that they could do this! (He had to arrange to phone his parents’ neighbour, as she was the only woman locally with an actual phone.) In a recent letter, he described watching the funeral of Winston Churchill on TV. That really made me realise how long ago it was!
