This & That Including What Ails

Local Treats

on October 12, 2018

Ms Feisty loves a good spicy noodle that is laden with Petai.

Petail is a bean from the Indonesian or Malaysian archipelago and is usually cooked in spices to mask its very pungent flavor and scent.

Petai is supposedly very good for those with kidney diseases and prevents diabetes. It is a bean that reduces sugar levels.

But after eating Petai, the excretions reek of the beans’ pungent aroma.

  1. Petai cooked with bi hoon or rice vermicelli in chilli spices.

2. The petai beans cooked in assam curry or tamarind paste chilli.

3. Curry fish head that is the one of the most eaten local dishes. Cooked in tamarind curry with a good fish head of a snapper or grouper, it has brinjal, ladies fingers (okra), pineapple and tomatoes for veggies.
