Blonde & Brunette

Two sisters, one blonde and one brunette, inherit the family ranch. Unfortunately, after just a few years, they are in financial trouble.

In order to keep the bank from repossessing the ranch, they need to purchase a bull so that they can breed their own stock.

Upon leaving, the brunette tells her sister, ‘When I get there, if I decide to buy the bull, I’ll contact you to drive out after me and haul it home.’

The brunette arrives at the man’s ranch, inspects the bull, and decides she wants to buy it.

The man tells her that he will sell it for $599, no less.

After paying him, she drives to the nearest town to send her sister a telegram to tell her the news..

She walks into the telegraph office, and says, ‘I want to send a telegram to my sister telling her that I’ve bought a bull for our ranch.

I need her to hitch the trailer to our pickup truck and drive out here so we can haul it home.’

The telegraph operator explains that he’ll be glad to help her, then adds, it will cost 99 cents a word.

Well, after paying for the bull, the brunette realizes that she’ll only be able to send her sister one word.

After a few minutes of thinking, she nods and says, ‘I want you to send her the word ‘comfortable.’

The operator shakes his head.

‘How is she ever going to know that you want her to hitch the trailer to your pickup truck and drive out here to haul that bull back to your ranch if you send her just the word ‘comfortable?’

The brunette explains, ‘My sister’s blonde. The word is big.

She’ll read it very slowly… ‘com-for-da-bul.’😀

Bates Motel – Day # 34 & 28th Jan 2020 Still In Bates

On 25th Jan 2020, the first auspicious day of Lunar New Year and I created a flurry of activity when my tummy decided to misbehave.

Dr Gastro was summoned and he appeared most swiftly and decisively ordered me to go for an Xray and blood tests. I was not allowed to eat meals, just feeds.

Doc on call in hospital swung by and drew blood in one draw after ward nurse failed to strike “oil”

Not her fault as I have weird veins that tend to “run” that makes drawing blood, sticking cannulas challenging.

I could do with a Subway Submarine now with the works! I will wolf it down in a jiffy!

At 9pm it was ghost town in radiology. I mused to myself, only me could cause standby radiographer to be busy.

With smart phones, ward nurses took a photo of Xray and sent it off to Dr Gastro.

As I settled in my hospital bed, I told self that if no one knocks on my door in 20 minutes then I am out of the woods.

In 10 minutes, I was told to go for emergency CT scan of abdomen.

This was not good.

Dr Gastro reappeared and told me that I had bad intestinal inflammation. Antibiotics must be delivered intravenously so that the meds arrest the inflammation swiftly like Deputy Dawg!

Today is day 3 of my antbiotics.

My abdominal pain has lessened but not quite disappeared yet.

What an exciting night I spent on first day of lunar new year.

My university classmate, M, visited me on day 2 on CNY and I was so happy to see her.

I loved her batik top and dangly ear rings as it matched her to perfection.

I received 2 oranges and a red packet from M. (*Piglet also gave me a red packet) Really thoughtful and kind of M and Piglet.

Tomorrow Dr Gastro will run more blood tests to see how I am doing.

Hopefully better and I could go home soon.

Luckily Bates Motel does not accept persons suspected of Coronavirus. Such cases are seen at the restructured designated hospitals to handle such cases at high safety standards to contain this horrid virus from Wuhan.
