I remember Noddy the Elf from Enid Blyton days. As an 8 year old, I was an ardent fan of Enid Blyton’s books.
The Famous 5 and Secret 7 series were also another great series of her works.
I learnt about elves, imps and goblins from Enid Blyton and she honed my English skills. She taught me to know of a land of fantasy where fairies and all things related to magic and mystery were.
But with political correctness and activists, Enid was unfortunately labelled as xenophobic, racist or elitist.
I wish people could read the books for the stories it tell and not see these as ugly things or thoughts.
I did not become influenced if any of the allegations were true but instead treasured Enid Blyton for giving me a good English foundation as I read voraciously and moved on to Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys and classics like Little Women and other classic tales.

I also read all the Enid Blyton books as a kid. Did us no harm whatsoever. I think it’s better to be able to read well!
Today’s kids? I feel sorry for them!

I didn’t know that Enid Blyton was labelled those things. That is a shame. I also grew up reading her books. I know that some people think they are not well written.

shortage of staff and added patient load has made me dull and tired…LOL! was lovely to catch up with what you have been doing. all the same here. a lot of cooking at home and ordering new foods. Hopefully light at the end of this year. Political turmoil as you would have read is quite ridiculous here! you too dear!
Aww poor you but understandable with Covid cases. I wish Malaysia has a stable government soon as all the bickering involving King is not good. Yes, I hope too for light at the end of tunnel and world economics improve now that Orange Man is out and with a new leader in Biden, there can be stability too.
Frankly, the country is running itself, we have been for a long time now, the wheels of economy will continue to move and carry us through. Let’s be positive for better things to come.
